Process Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission
  • Support our engineering manager in major capex projects as subject matter expert

  • Act as subject matter expert in upscaling projects of fermentation processes, downstream and extraction processes from pilot to large production scale

  • Prepare technical engineering documents together with other engineers and scientists (Define user requirement specifications, PFD’s, P&ID'S, energy & mass balances, equipment lists, spec sheets, equipment assessments, layout design, hygienic design specification, risk analysis, work instructions)

  • Prepare commissioning plans and maintenance plans

  • Write and review SOP's 

  • Collaboratively ensure technical standards in all technical operations

  • Support feasibility studies for future CapEx projects

  • Support HAZOP studies through all engineering phases

  • Plan and execute commissioning of new process equipments

  • Support on work safety risk assessments

  • Support internal and external production regarding process optimization and troubleshooting

Your profile
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Process Engineering or a related field

  • At least 4 years of working experience in a production site in life science industry

  • At least 2 years of working experience in technical design of microbial fermentation (>10m3) or downstream (>3t/h) or extraction (>10m3) process units in industrial production scale

  • Proven experience in successfully upscaling - from pilot scale to industry production scale - of fermentation or downstream or extraction processes 

  • A good knowledge of chemical- & bioprocess engineering principles is a prerequisite

  • A good practical knowledge of equipments used for liquid processes, e.g. pumps, pipes, heat exchangers, valves, inline measuring equipment’s, filter units, separators, stirred tanks, crusher, mills and conveyors is a prerequisite

  • Proven experience in process engineering from quality driven life science industry (e.g. food or pharma)

  • Familiarity with mycology and mycelium cultivation is a strong plus

  • Strong hands-on mentality is a strong plus

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment

  • First experience in plant commissioning highly preferred

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Very good communication skills in both German and English
